Bucs looked good last night against 1st place Brewers. This next week should include the call up of Top prospect Gregory Polanco to an RF! 22 year old is a 5 tool stud who will fit nicely with Andrew McCutchen in the Pirates outfield! Very Happy

Pirates bullpen, which was almost perfect last year, has really let them down recently. Andrew McCutchen and young Mr Polanco have been carrying the offense over the last week. Polanco is as good as advertised.

Think it was the Angels that Grilli went to. He was demoted from closer, actually thought they were going to cut him.

3 Pirates to the All Star Game. Knew Andrew McCutchen was going to start; probably best player in NL! Really great that super utility man Josh Harrison and set-up relieler Tony Watson were also chosen. Watson hasn't given up a run since April!

Buckley: 100 years ago today: A star is born

Babe Ruth didn’t belong just to New York after the Red Sox sold him to the Yankees; within a few years he belonged to the world.

The Babe became the first global sports icon, as instantly recognizable in his time as silent film icons Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. And he earned nicknames — The Sultan of Swat! The Big Bam! The Caliph of Clout! The Behemoth of Bust! — that were as breathtaking as they were alliterative. Before we got around to calling things “Ruthian,” there was the man himself: George Herman “Babe” Ruth.

And at the major league level, it all began exactly 100 years ago today — on July 11, 1914 — when the Babe debuted with the Boston Red Sox.

From a purely statistical standpoint, let the record show that the Babe, just 19 years old, arrived at Back Bay Station on that summer Saturday morning and within a couple of hours was toeing the rubber at Fenway Park, poised to make his major league debut. A gifted but largely unknown left-handed pitcher, he worked seven strong innings in Boston’s 4-3 victory over the Cleveland Naps, earning the first of what would be 94 big league victories.

Really enjoying the nightly Andrew McCutchen Show as he blossoms into baseball's best player. Last night he homered to tie the game in the ninth and then won it for the Bucs with an 11th inning shot. Check him out in Tuesday's All Star game.

Non-waiver trade deadline this week. Very interested in what the Pirates do. The division is very winnable and a few tweaks could put the Pirates in position to win it.

Hey sportsnut you just might be getting something you want in the way of help. Today all afternoon on Boston Sports radio station 98.5 the sports hub they have been saying that your Pirates are now a late and fast charging team looking to snap up Pitcher Jon Lester. The Pirates in order to make the deal it is being reported would have to give up one of their top outfield prospects who was drafted back in 2012 as the #2 overall outfield prospect ( sorry did not get his name from radio today ) along with some other considerations. Only problem your team might have is the fact that Lester can still become a free agent at the end of the season. So you might just be renting him for a couple of months Question Suspect scratch

Pirates strike out at the trade deadline. No way the Bucs could have beat the A's for Lester. Can't believe the Sox got Cespedes for a rent a player. Think the Sox got alot for Lackey too. Kelly and Craig are good young players. Seems the Pirates had a better shot at Price. But the Tigers offered major league players and the Pirates probably had a package of prospects including Josh Bell who is probably 3 years from the majors.

Re: LETS TALK BASEBALL

Ver bad news tonight as Pirate sources are saying reigning NL MVP Andrew McCutchen is going on the DL, and may miss a month, with a strained oblique. Might be the death nail to any playoff hopes the Bucs have. This, added to the benching of last year's NL HR leader Pedro Alvarez, are more than this team can overcome. Alvarez, while badly struggling at the plate, has suddenly lost the ability to make the simple throw from third to first.

Travis Ishikawa was the opening day 1st baseman for the Pirates and didn't hit his weight in April. So they released him. Now he's the reason "The Giants Win the Pennant". Typical!!! Mad

Hey Guys my RED SOX opened up the wallets BIG TIME today.... Signing the Kung Foo Panda from San Francisco and also Hanley Ramirez Next on the early Christmas list looks like Jon Lester returning to Boston. I know Spring Training is still 4 months away but I am already looking forward to this coming baseball season. Maybe just another worst to first for my RED SOX like a few years ago. Very Happy about their chances.

Now that the NBA and NHL seasons are over; Baseball gets center stage(at least until Steeler training camp starts on July 25 lol! )! As I type this, my Pirates are on a 7 game winning streak. The amazing part is that their incredible pitching staff has given up a total of 5 runs(4 earned) and have produced 5 shutouts during those 7 games.

Very happy with the Pirates right now! They have the 2nd best record in the league and they face the Cardinals in a huge 4 game series in Pittsburgh this weekend! I've heard they have sold out the series. The whole area is really excited about this team! Just a few years ago I was starting to think that I was never going to see the Pirates good again. Very Happy

Pirates are sending 4 players to the All Star Game! Andrew McCutchen is going to start in CF(injury replacement). Really happy for AJ Burnett, who is the oldest 1st time all star in MLB history.

Just for nothing but I am going with the Chicago Cubs in six games over the Cleveland Indians to finally end a 108 year drought. If this does happen maybe CUBS FANS will finally leave poor Steve Bartman alone and forgive him like RED SOX fans did with Bill Buckner.
