Hello Fellas, Long time no hear or see anyone on here including me LOL. How is everything going with you guys and your families? Everything here has been going well. Work has really slowed down to a crawl. We are into are slow season now. No more overtime until September only regular 40 hour work weeks for us in the warehouse. All other departments are working on only 9 hour shifts for 3 to 4 days a week for the next 3 months until the busy season starts to kick back in. Those that are only getting the 27 to 30 hours are being able to collect unemployment benefits though for the lost hours. Even though I have lost the overtime it is the one benefit of working in the warehouse we will always get the 40 hours unless you want to opt for unpaid time off or use vacation days. Unpaid time off can be used in hourly increments. You can use as little as 1 hour a day up to a whole day off. I still have 2 weeks vacation time stored up but may just  chose taking 1 or 2 hours a day off a couple of times a week and save the vacation time for any emergency that might pop up. Once again hope all is well with you and your families. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Stay well my friends cheers cheers cheers

Post by Josilv5 on Thu Jul 19, 2018 7:29 pm

Hey guys sorry for not checking in for a long time. Things around here have been very bad for me. 3 weeks ago my wife had a very bad accident while riding her scooter. Some ASSHOLE speeding cut her off and forced her and the bike into the sidewalk. That car kept going while my wife lay on the side of the road with the scooter pinning her to the ground. I got the call at work through my warehouse manager. She spent 7 days in Rhode Island Hospital having to have her right leg and knee reconstructed. Her knee cap was totally dislocated and both her fibula and femur bones were broke. She went through 3 surgeries to put 2 rods in her lower and upper leg and her knee was so bad the doctor said it was like trying to put a jigsaw puzzle back together. They put her knee back together using cement. She spent the next 14 days in a rehab clinic here in our home city but I had to get her out this past Monday because the insurance would not go past 14 days of rehab. She is currently staying at her Moms high rise apartment because they have elevators and we live in a 2nd floor apartment and the doctor says she cannot put any weight on that leg for at least 2 months to let it heal. She has had the stitches taken out but long road of recovery still ahead. At least the local visiting nurses association here in our city is going to treat her 3 times a week. I also through my human resource department at work put all the paperwork in to qualify for the F.M.L.A. ( Family Medical Leave Act ) Any time I need to take off from work I am covered up to 12 weeks. Only thing is that time used is unpaid. I can use anywhere from 1 to 8 hours a day up to 12 weeks. Between myself and our daughter we have already filed paperwork with our local social security office and department of transitional assistance to try and get her some sort of disability help. She does qualify for up to 80 hours of sick time benefits through Cerebral Palsy Of Massachusetts for the time she has spent working for her MOM as a P.C.A. over the last few years. We will also try to see if she can qualify for any unemployment until she can get up on her feet and get back to work. Sorry this was so long fellas but I have had a lot to get off my chest. Trying to keep the roof over our heads and dealing with everyday bills and things have just been running me down.

CHECKIN IN - Page 4 Empty Re: CHECKIN IN

Post by Josilv5 on Sat Aug 25, 2018 7:47 pm

Hey Guys took my wife Terry back this last Wednesday for her 8 week checkup with the trauma surgeon. Leg and knee are healing but there was one small complication. One of the screws in her knee section had started to pull out of place. So on Friday she went back in to rhode island hospital to have a small scope surgery done to reset the screw. Back home and doctor needs to see her again in four weeks September 19th. He said she can start to put about 20lbs of pressure on her foot and leg to start getting some normal activity started. Can still not put full weight bearing on that leg for at least 4 weeks until she goes back to see him. He said that full recovery will be about 6 months. She had the injury on June 26th and the first surgery on June 28th. He puts time frame for her getting back to normal and returning to work as of January 1st 2019. Will keep updates coming. One good thing is the visiting nurses have once again been approved to see her so I do not have to keep losing time from work to use my F.M.L.A. ( family medical leave act ) to look after her. All that time is unpaid but keeps your job protected through the federal government. I have already used up all my vacation and sick/personnel time. All I have left is the F.M.L.A. until I get all my paid time off back January 1st 2019.

Hi Guys. Sorry to here about your wife Jos. Been the roughest of years for me.
After 26 years of marriage, I'm going through a divorce. Seems she's been planning this for a while. I'm on my own for the 1st time since my mid 20s. Oh by the way, the spousal support laws in PA really suck. Lol. Living in an apartment now, but I have recovered my 65" 4k tv, so I'm still ready for some football. Construction is booming here in western PA, so at least my work situation is good. Ok, enough bellyaching, going over to make some college picks.

Post by Josilv5 on Tue Oct 02, 2018 7:05 pm

Hey guys finally getting back with latest update on my wifes  leg and knee. Took her back to the Trauma surgeon again last week. Healing is still taking place but slow. She has been able to get away from using the walker and has gone to a cane but still cannot put full weight on the leg. I take her back again in four weeks on the 31st. We are starting to take her to occupational therapy 2 times a week to get the walking motion and strength going. Things have been really tough financially only my pay coming in. She does not qualify for disability here in Massachusetts because the injury will not be 12 months or longer ( no short term in Mass ) she also was disqualified from getting unemployment because in Massachusetts 3 conditions of getting benefits are being able to work, available to work, and actively looking for work. She cannot meet any of those. We have been approved for and are receiving Snap food stamp benefits and have qualified for fuel ( heating ) assistance and reduced electric rates. I have life insurance for the both of us through work but we were forced to have to cash in 3 separate life insurance policies that she had been paying on for the past 20 years just to keep the rent and bills paid. We are holding on but just getting by. I still have my 401K retirement account that I could access for a loan if really needed but that will be a last resort. I will keep you guys posted as she progresses going forward.

Thanks Sportsnut. Your thoughts and prayers are very welcomed in this time that my family is going through. We have been on here for many years together ( you, chit, and my self ) we all stay strong for each other and that will never change in my heart. My only regret is that we have never had the pleasure ( though it is not possible ) for all of us to have met in person and see one another face to face. Stay strong my long time online friend and Peace to you also.

Hey Chit I am still here. Just been taking it easy since football season ended and still helping my wife ( Terry ). Now 9 months out from her accident and she still is not out of the woods yet. We have appeals going on right now with social security to get her some type of benefits that she was denied for because of the BULLSHIT LAWS we have in this state of Massachusetts. We have been getting by on everything we can dig up. Still have a roof over our heads even though we have been behind on rent and the landlord keeps sending out 14 day notices to pay or else get out. I keep telling him as long as I am paying something ( and have all the rent receipts to prove it ) go ahead and roll the dice and take me to court and I will show up loaded for bear with every medical and therapy record from the last 9 months and let the judge decide. It will cost him more to take me to court and we could end up living rent free because I will also be bringing every picture I can get to show the way this property looks inside and out and how he has not done one thing that a landlord is responsible for under Massachusetts law even though I have kept my mouth shut up to now. Hope all is well with you and Kim. I will always be here until they put me six feet under the ground. Hope all is well with sportsnut also.

Hey Chit and Sportsnut. It`s been a very long time since I have been on here I hope you two guys are still around and doing okay with yourselves and families. Things have only gotten worse here for my wife and I. She is still layed up a year after her scooter accident and we are still trying to fight to get her on disability but the system sucks and takes forever to go from one appeal to the next. On top of that I have been out of work myself since late March after suffering a lower back injury that has me with 2 bulging discs pressing against nerves and my 2 lowest vertabrea have no cushion anymore and are bone on bone. Been being seen by spine specialist since April with no good outlook around the corner. Well I hope you guys are still around and find this post. I will check back in again in a day or two to see if you guys are still there. Peace be with you both my long time friends.
